In 2012, Katie and Mark met while in the cadaver lab for Human Gross Anatomy.

They quickly realized that they wanted to be together and started dating shortly after Katie began her Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.

Following completion of medical school at CWRU, the pair moved to Washington, D.C., and got married at St. Vitus in Cleveland in September 2019, the church where both of their parents were married.
